TESTPRINTS - HOME SETUP

HOW DOES IT LOOK PRINTED?

I test my designs on home printers (Canon Pixma iX6850 with Canon Matte Photo Paper and HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 with Matte Color Choice Paper). If it looks good here, it’ll look even better with a professional vendor. Paper and ink matter: matte soaks up more color but looks elegant, glossy reflects light but colors pop, colored cardstock shifts tones. Black cardstock is tricky—printing photos or detailed graphics (raster images) won’t work well, even with a white underlayer, so I don’t recommend it.

The best way to know? Do a test print—easy at home, and just as easy with vendors like Staples or Prints of Love, who let you order a single sample card first.
